BC XI has acquired a stake in Springer Nature alongside a single-asset acquisition fund led by Neuberger Berman and managed by BC Partners in June 2021. Springer Nature is the #2 academic research publisher, leveraging 175 years of experience in supporting the academic community.
Headquartered in Berlin, the company was created through the merger of Springer Science and Macmillan Publishing in 2015. The company operates a global network of c. 90,000 expert academic editors and c. 750,000 PhD peer reviewers and publishes c. 300,000 articles per annum in around 3,000 journals, including under the prestigious Nature brand. Springer Nature holds leading positions in some of the most attractive and fastest growing segments such as prestigious high impact factor journals, full open access or academic e-books.
